St. John’s Music Ministry
Opportunities for musical, spiritual and personal growth.
Cherub Choir
Children (grade 5 and under) are invited to sing in the Cherub Choir which meets Sundays 9:50-10:15 am. Children enjoy a caring group experience as they share their faith through music. They sing primarily at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service several times a year. Jennifer Weaver, director. Begins September 24. Rehearsals begin Sunday, September 21.
Alleluia Bell Choir
Young people (grade 6 and up) are invited to ring Sundays at 9:50 a.m. St. John’s five-octave set of Schulmerich handbells and three-octave set of hand chimes are put into action as the Alleluia Bells share their musical gifts at the 10:30 worship service. Anne McBrayer, director. Rehearsals begin Sunday, November 2.
St. John’s Brass
This ensemble plays for festive worship services throughout the church year, and also for ordinations and installations. Brass repertoire includes solos, duets, as well as full brass with organ and timpani. All brass players (and timpanists) are welcome.
Carillon Choir
This cross-generational bell choir rehearses Thursdays 6:30-7:00 p.m. for short, upbeat, energy-filled rehearsals. Ringers improve their music and ringing skills, have fun together, and ring regularly at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service. Rehearsals begin Thursday, October 9.

The Chancel Choir invites singers of all ages. The choir sings Sundays at the 10:30 a.m. service (mid-September through May) and rehearses Thursdays at 7:15 -8:30 pm. Chancel Choir is open to teen-agers and adults wishing to take a leadership role in worship through music, and share their gift of music. They also sing at the once monthly (October through April) Evening Prayer services (music in the style of Taize), and at other special services. Rehearsals begin Thursday, September 4.
Messiah Choir
St. John’s Music Ministry has a renowned tradition of singing the Christmas portion (Part 1) of Handel’s Messiah as part of a Sunday morning worship service in Advent. The 45-voice choir, soloists and chamber orchestra, including trumpets from the balconies, seek “to prepare our hearts for the coming of the Christ Child.” Singers, as well as the many visitors attending this service, are spiritually enriched and renewed. The Chancel Choir serves as the core group for this expanded choir. Guest singers are welcome! This year's Messiah will be Sunday, December 7. (Rehearsals begin Thursday, October 16. at 7:45 p.m.
